Machinery and Background

There are many ways to create sound for machinery and background.

When the sound is stationary, for instance with a conveyer, loops can be played. Cheap and simple this can be done with a CD- or Mp3 player. OSSYNTHS creates continuous sound loops with a duration of half an hour or even one hour. When the player is set to "repeat one" this loop is played whole day long. But at the end of the loop the player will need some time (seconds) to search for the begin of the tracks and resume playing.

When a real loop player is used the sound plays all day without interruptions. OSSYNTHS uses Scale Magic Dreamplayer .

In the case that a machine starts and stops the loop sound can be started and stopped too. Most realistic is the use of a fader that fades in and out when the machine respectively starts and stops. In spite of the reality, that the fader only just manipulates the volume,  the listener will be convinced that the sound behaves correctly, that means that the machine will make speed or slow down.

For the tippler in Eneret a synthesizer was created. This synthesizer creates a tone like that of an electric motor and the frequency of this tone went up when the cage started to turn, then stayed at that height when the cage was at speed and went down when the cage came to a standstill. Advantage: the behaviour of the sound is exact good; disadvantage: recorded sound is always better then synthesized - .

Such effects can also be created digitally nowadays and that is almost ideal.
